On 19th June 2025, the UPSTU Education Committee hosted yet another enriching ProDev Hour under the theme “Preparing and Delivering an Outstanding Pitch Presentation.” The session was facilitated by Mr. Obina Johnson Okeny, a seasoned communicator and innovation coach, who equipped attendees with practical tools for delivering powerful and persuasive pitch presentations.
Mr. Okeny emphasized that a strong pitch is more than just delivering slides—it’s about clarity, confidence, and storytelling. Participants were introduced to the standard UPSTU pitch deck structure, which includes key components such as the problem statement, innovation, stakeholder engagement, and a demonstration or call to action. He encouraged students to focus on telling the story behind their innovation, not just reciting facts.
The presentation covered:
- Effective slide design – simple, visual, and structured.
- Delivery techniques – maintaining eye contact, voice modulation, and natural gestures.
- Rehearsal strategies – including solo practice, group feedback, and preparing for Q&A sessions.
- Handling judges’ questions – with composure, honesty, and positivity.
Mr. Okeny also shared a checklist for the final exhibition day and reminded students that winning isn’t everything—what matters is the experience, growth, and resilience built in the process.
