Uganda Professional Science Teachers Union (UPSTU) is a labour union for all Science Teachers in Uganda, actively pursuing diverse initiatives to uplift science teachers and advance practical science education.
This year we are thrilled to organize the inaugural ‘UPSTU Science Innovation Projects Competition a transformative initiative, aligned with the new competence-based curriculum at lower and upper secondary. The competition aims at fostering innovation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among learners, contributing to the development of a scientifically innovative society in line with our motto, “Science for Development and Transformation”. Below are some key details about the initiative:

Project Submission Deadline: 30th April, 2025
Competition Date: Regional Competition early in the second term followed by the National Competition (confirmed venues and dates will be communicated to shortlisted applicants).
Competition Highlights:
- Independent adjudicators will evaluate projects based on set parameters and standard rubrics.
- All participants will receive certificates of participation for their schools.
- Winning projects will be awarded prizes.
- Project presentations will be recorded and published in the UPSTU projects database on the official upstu.org website.
Participating in this competition is an excellent opportunity for your school to showcase the innovative and creative projects your students have done. It also provides a platform to celebrate the efforts of your dedicated science teachers.
