Launch of Worker’s Center of Excellence

Uganda Professional Science Teachers’ Union (UPSTU) leaders recently had the opportunity to attend a special function organized by Hon. Agnes Kunihira, the Member of Parliament for workers in the 11th Parliament. The event marked the launch of the “Worker’s Center of Excellence” in Ntinda, a state-of-the-art facility aimed at providing comprehensive training in labor laws for workers and union leaders.

The Worker’s Center of Excellence, initiated by Hon. Agnes Kunihira, is a significant step toward promoting workers’ rights and empowering union leaders in Uganda. The center will offer a range of courses and workshops focused on labor laws, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills required to navigate the complex landscape of workers’ rights and regulations.

During the launch event, UPSTU leaders joined representatives from other labor unions, government officials, and stakeholders in the labor sector to celebrate the inauguration of the center. Attendees had the opportunity to tour the facility and learn more about the programs and services that will be offered.

The involvement of UPSTU leaders at the launch event highlights the union’s commitment to enhancing the knowledge and skills of its members and other science teachers in the country. The Worker’s Center of Excellence will provide valuable resources and training opportunities for UPSTU members, enabling them to better understand their rights and advocate for improved working conditions in their respective institutions.

In addition to labor law training, the center is expected to host seminars and workshops on various topics related to workers’ rights, such as collective bargaining, dispute resolution, and occupational health and safety. These programs will further strengthen the capacity of UPSTU leaders and members to effectively represent and advocate for the interests of science teachers throughout Uganda.

In conclusion, the launch of the Worker’s Center of Excellence in Ntinda is a significant milestone in the promotion of workers’ rights and the professional development of union leaders in Uganda. UPSTU is proud to have been part of this momentous occasion and looks forward to utilizing the resources and training opportunities provided by the center to better serve its members and advance the interests of science teachers across the country.
